Established in 1997, TALK provides long-term support and communication opportunities for people withaphasia. TALK has three part-time employees, a network of volunteers and is led by a dedicated Board of Trustees. We run groups in five locations across North-West Surrey serving approximately 80 people withaphasia.
Our mission is to support and empower people to live positively withaphasia, through engagement with their local peer network and the wider community.
Our key values are:
INCLUSION:
We promote a culture of inclusion, respect and enablement by providing a supportive and accessible communication environment. We are considerate of each other’s feelings, values and points of view.
COMMUNITY:
Our group-based approach provides positive opportunities for connection, friendship and peer support, fostering a sense of belonging and worth. We are committed to helping people withaphasia build their confidence and self-esteem, leading to improved wellbeing, increased participation and independence within the community.
INTEGRITY:
We are committed to quality and excellence in all we do. We are trustworthy and responsible. We welcome accountability and behave ethically, honestly and transparently, in accordance with best practice.
COLLABORATION:
TALK values and promotes effective teamwork between our volunteers, staff, leadership and other local services. We work collectively with people withaphasia and their families, to ensure that they receive caring support and the best service from TALK.
